Records of the Shiawassee County Clerk, 1854-1919.

This record group consists of two sets of records of the Shiawassee County Clerk for the years 1854-1919. The first set of records are the records of assessment of damages by railroad construction (1854-1867). These consist of the proceedings heard before the circuit court in the matter of assessment of damages made by construction of the consolidated Detroit and Pontiac and the Oakland and Ottawa railroad companies (became the Detroit and Milwaukee Railway Company). Includes statements regarding similar action involving the Port Huron and Lake Michigan Railroad Company. The second set of records are certificates of honorable discharge from military service (1865, 1919). The certificates offers name; rank; unit of service; date of enrollment; term; date, place and condition of discharge; and occasionally age, physical description, and place of birth. Includes an index to servicemen.
